Today, I went to a concert with my new boyfriend. I had a panic attack halfway through and an ambulance picked me up. My boyfriend met my parents for the first time drunk, in the emergency room. FML

At least he won't be nervous as long as he keeps his buzz

What's with all the OPs on here having random panic attacks? Harden up people!!!!

I was just wondering this myself. Op's lately are some majorly uptight and worried people. Relax, life is going to kill you anyhow, it's just a matter of time. No need to get uptight about it.

well maybe op shouldn't be a drama queen and have a panic attack.

Having a panic attack has nothing to do with being "uptight" or a "drama queen". Having panic attacks is a disorder, and I don't know anyone who would choose this. You guys should have a little bit more sympathy for those who suffer from this, panic attacks are one of the worst feelings in the world.

This is actually how I saw my father for the first time...when I was ******* born.

There is a disproportionate number of fmls having to do with anxiety/panic attacks, but it's because people are a lot more open about the issues their anxiety causes, and their fmls are more likely to get published because a lot of people can relate. The thing with anxiety is that while it is an actual medical condition, a lot of people (that I've met anyway) don't seem to treat it as such. For example, if you have asthma, you will make sure you're prepared for an asthma attack by either avoiding situations causing one or by carrying an inhaler. I've met quite a few people who claim to have anxiety, but refuse to actually treat it and then expect everyone else to walk to eggshells around them in order to avoid an attack. Meanwhile, I spent years taking control of my own anxiety through therapy, medication and other methods and can now sense a panic attack coming o,n and generally prevent or lessen the impact. But that's just my opinion, take it or leave it.

I only thumbed you down for writing a ******* book on FML. I didnt even read your comment, but maybe I will when it gets published.

people who are inconsiderate towards people with mental illness are not worth the effort it would take to educate their ignorant arse.

Well at least he can say he cared enough to stay by her side and as long as he's of age to drink, who cares :)

I'm sure they were too worried about you to focus on hating him.

Yeah, I feel their first reaction isn't going to be "WTF your boyfriend's drunk!"

I don't see why her parents should hate him, if they were at a concert they were probably both drinking.

Thats one reason why i never drink..

In case you go to a concert with your boyfriend/girlfriend, they have a panic attack halfway through and you end up meeting their parents for the first time drunk? That's a weird reason not to drink man.

Life has a funny way of making things happen, doesn't it?

I'd say he is a keeper because he came to the hospital with her, even if he was drunk, which shows that he cares.

That would've been an interesting conversation to overhear the first words exchanged...
