By what did I do? - 15/10/2015 19:30 - United States - San Francisco

Today, I proposed to my girlfriend. She slapped me in the face, stormed out and won't answer my calls. What the hell? FML

We definitely need to hear more of this... How long have you been going out for?

Oh no. Sounds like you two definitely weren't on the same page in one way or another... how long had you been in a relationship?

Apparently it was not her dream proposal. You ruined it!

I think even if it isn't her "dream proposal" the reaction is a bit extreme, also I can't tell if you are kidding or serious.

The real question is: Did she know you were her boyfriend or was it more of a "lurk-in-the-shadows-longingly" kind of relationship?

I guess no one saw the sarcasm in #1's comment

And apparently they don't understand your comment either. Sucks that we're the only ones

It's moot how long they went out, no one should behave like that.

I agree with #36 me and my wife have been together 10 months and married 4. so why is it important

It's not moot if they've been together a week.

A creeped out reaction, breakup, or 'no' and id agree the length of time matters. However, an angry reaction, slap, and ignoring op? Time wouldn't excuse it.

#36 You, I like you. Canadians are nice people.

I hope she will give you a good reason and you guys can figure it out! Good luck OP!

That's what I'm wondering, after he figures it out this definitely needs a follow-up.

I think I just saw her post, it's been a week right?

I was just about to mention that FML, 88. Lol

What the hell indeed, how long have you been together?

I'm not sure what could have caused her to react that way, maybe it was your way of proposal? Anyway, hope things work out for you two and if she says yes later on congrats!

That's why everyone is asking how long they've dated. Even if a man proposes in a Taco Bell with a plastic ring, a girl who REALLY loves him (even if it's not preferable) wouldn't slap him. But if they've been together for like two weeks, and he proposes, MOST girls would probably storm out.

My immediate assumption is that he got some key detail very wrong. Maybe confused their first date with an ex's or called her the wrong name

Many women want to be proposed to perfectly or they just refuse it outright, you're better off OP

pft its the thought that counts. a man is offering to share his life and future with you. kind of a massive bitch if she turns him down because its not how she wants it. not really up to her how he asks actually lol my fiance asked me on the road i live on

I agree with you. My boyfriend could propose to me with a plastic ring in a fast food joint, and I'd say yes in a heart beat. I don't care how he does it or how expensive the ring is.

She obviously isn't worth it. You can do so much better. Be with someone who wants to be with you

Even if it was for a short time why was the slap necessary?

Well, #9's comment starts off "Oh no", so I'm pretty sure we are all in agreement the slap wasn't necessary.

Even if they weren't on the same page, she's a bitch for doing that. Girls are always complaining that guys don't want to commit but when a guy actually wants full commitment and to share his life with them they get all freaked out. Whether their relationship was short term or not, there's no need for that drama. She could've said "I'm not ready yet, let's wait for a while longer". He obviously had strong feelings for her and her reaction proves he doesn't deserve a bitch like that. I'd say he dodged a bullet.
