Prolly don't dabble in the gene pool with this guy...find someone more intelligent!
Your boyfriend is a dumbass.
EMT here. Why give mouth to mouth? It's almost pointless (according to recent research) and no EMT I know would do that. Compressions is all you need in that situation.
For all the jerks saying mouth to mouth isn't taught anymore: Look up the latest AHA guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. 30 compressions at 100-120 bpm followed by 2 BREATHS. Bag valve mask, pocket mask, or barrier is preferred, but direct contact is better than letting the person die. Even in my EMT class, we were taught to do mouth to mouth if there was no other alternative.
FINALLY! All these people claiming to know the standards and rules, and then immediately contradicting themselves. The compressions are for imitating the heart beat- you have to give mouth-to-mouth if you don't have any other way to make them breathe, or else they WILL sustain brain damage. One minute in, brain damage starts. Three minutes in, major, life altering brain damage. Ten minutes in, catastrophic damage, the patient is unlikely to ever recover. Fifteen minutes and recovery is virtually impossible. In other words mouth to mouth is very important.

Is that really a relationship you want to resuscitate? Maybe you ought to hit him with the paddles. It might shock him.
I feel sorry for such a narrow minded little boy like that. Keep up the good work, my sister is a first responder and I just can't imagine this.
