How could you not smell that? I hate the smell of mold it's awful and strong!
Right. I don't even need to smell it. I know it's around if I get a horrible migraine. Stuffs from Satan himself.
Not noticing they were plastic plants for 2 months....they must be really expensive fake plants.
Or op is just blame retarded.
you shouldn't water real plants every day either. same problem.
That's amazing. I mean you couldn't touch the stems or leaves since day one?
I wonder which one of your coworkers won that bet. "Hey, how long d'you think the new girl will keep watering those plants till she realizes they're fake?" "$50 it takes her two weeks." :two months later: "Hasn't she noticed that horrible smell? ... Should we tell her?" *all coworkers are blown away by OPs obliviousness*
These plastic plants must be of a ridiculously good quality if you watered them for 2 months and never noticed they were fake.
I think it's just as likely your coworkers believed they were real too. I doubt anyone but you had the initiative to water the plants, and without touching them, it's probably not super obvious. Then again, I don't pay much attention, or put any thought really into office plants. I'm not saying it's impossible they were being jerks and just watching you, snickering, wondering how long it'd take you to catch on...however, I think it's more likely they didn't know and didn't give much thought to you watering them at all. They probably thought it was very sweet of you to do so, going above and beyond your duties and it shows you're thoughtful. I know I wouldn't have watered the plants. Until it's proven otherwise in some way, I'd give your coworkers the benefit of doubt and assume they're not all out to get you.
On the bright side, one day you may be able to laugh about it. "Hey, remember when I was new and thought the office plants were real? How weird was that?" Plus the next time a newbie does something strange, you can make a new friend by telling them your story so they don't feel as bad about it.
