Am I being detained?

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2015 but it's good stuff - Canada - Chilliwack

Today, a police car hit my parked vehicle, likely due to icy road conditions. When the officer came over to talk to me, I assumed it was to give me his insurance information. Nope. It was to give me a ticket for "impeding a police officer." My car was in my driveway. FML

Get a lawyer and sue him. It's highly unlikely that anything else would be successful.

Op, fight against this. Take pictures, take video, document as much of this as you can. See if someone else saw this whole thing happen. This cop need to be reprimanded for what they did. Not only that, they need to get the ticket off of your record and pay for the damages on your personal, parked, vehicle. This is one of those times you really, really, need to fight against this kind of stupidity. This is one of the many reasons cops need cameras on them.

Yea and I hope they will have no control or access whatsoever over those cameras or footage.

I would suggest starting the legal process now, it could be years before you even see a dime for car repairs.

I'm not sure how the Canadian govt or BC govt works, but I'm pretty sure you have some sort of right there to fight this ticket.
