Today, working in customer support, I received a call from a woman who'd just been robbed. My supervisor asked what was taking so long; I told him that she was hysterical. He took my phone and told her to call back when she had her "shit together", then hung up. I take orders from this dude. FML

You have the worst boss. I'm proud of you for treating her like a person though.

OP: What the **** man? Supervisor: What? All she has to do is disarm the robber without getting herself and others killed, restrain him, and call the cops! Shit, people these days can't do anything... Your supervisor is obviously Clark Kent, OP. He just can't understand how us mere mortals handle things.

You told your boss that the woman was hysterical, did you bother to tell him why?

Customer support is starting to become more and more deceitful thanks to jerk offs like OPs supervisor.

Wow, I'd like to work for your company...

So you could have the pleasure of flipping off the boss and taking a dramatic exit as you quit? Perhaps with fireworks?

It was supposed to be sarcastic... But I guess it didn't come out how I wanted it to. But seriously, it sounds like her job sucks with that prick galavanting around the office projecting his penis into his associates affairs...

Could have been worse. You could have been a 911 operator under the same circumstances.

Yes, you are customer support, not a grief counselor. You can't be missing calls while this lady is just blubbering away. Are you sad to be working for someone who is effective?

I really hope you put together something and report him to HR or to his supervisor(s).

It's unlikely that a call center HR person would care to correct the situation. Call center workers are always on the clock, and don't have time to coddle the customers unless the customer is marked in the computer as "special" meaning spends a lot of money. Sadly, this is the normal state of affairs in the service industry.

It's the normal state of affairs of this time... Business... It's all about the money.

Imagine if OP was a 911 dispatcher and his boss said that. O.O

if OP was a 911 operator, the hysterics would be par for the course...

Time to look for a new job where you don't work for an insensitive asshole.
