Bad timing

Today, I had dinner with three friends to forget about the painful break up with my boyfriend. The first friend announced that she and her boyfriend had just bought a house, the second one that he was no longer single, and the third one revealed that she was pregnant. FML

could be worse, one of them could have announced they had just gotten together with your ex-boyfriend. Down some martinis and be happy

That is hard to go through because you just had a break-up but you should be happy for your friends! Stop your negativity and self-focus, suck it up and be there for your friends.

You should try to be happy for your friends. Just because your upset doesn't mean that they are supposed to be in that same sort of situation too.

you should be thankful that you don't have to live with someone and put up with their bs, you're not tied down, and you're not pregnant. You're life sounds fine to me woman.

I love how everyone is saying that OP is so selfish for not being happy for her friends. I'm pretty certain all of you would feel the same way as OP if this happened to you.

definitely not. but thanks for calling everyone selfish. maybe you should learn this thing called speaking for yourself.

There is nothing in this comment to say she WASN'T happy for her friends! But after a painful breakup I can understand how upsetting this situation could be.

The OP might be a little too depressed to have a threesome, but like the way you think.

55 is completely right. this isnt about being selfish.

anyone who would complain about their friend telling her she is pregnant, is selfish.

she's not upset her friend shared the good news, she's upset that she shared it AT THE DINNER THAT WAS FOR CHEERING HER UP! it's all about timing. would really be the kind of friend who hears sad news, then "oh well, here's all the good stuff that happened to me"?? I would hate having a friend like that...and they wouldn't be my friend for long! love hearing good news, yes, but not right after I have my heart broken! I was going to share good news with a friend a while back, but she was upset so I waited a couple days. no biggie, and showed I cared about her feelings too. imagine that.
