If there was a wet floor sign not your fault. If there wasn't it was
Wow didn't he see you mopping plus the water on the ground
There are supposed to be signs put up that says caution wet floor or something like that. Before you start OSHA regulator for businesses.
Got to love all the sue happy commenters on here! I'm sure OP would be facing more than a "lecture" if the sign wasnt up.
YDI for not using a wet floor sign. Especially in a hotel, where plenty of guests will be walking in and out. Someone either forgot to teach you about the sign, or the hotel is shitty enough that they don't care about their guests.
Until OP says otherwise you can't determine if there was a sign or not. Way to jump to conclusions.
If you were really bitched out JUST to satisfy the customer, then take heart in knowing it was all for show. I've seen that happen at tons of places. Annoying customer causes a scene and blames an employee... manager chews that employee out to make the customer feel better. Then, the moment the customer leaves, the manager turns around and takes it all back and praises the employee. It may be really mortifying, but hopefully you can get past it soon. Hopefully you don't have to get used to occurrences like this. If you do, you must have some pretty crappy customers and for that I am sorry.
That sort of behavior should be completely unacceptable. This gives customers the feeling they have rights they absolutely don't have. It is NOT "the customer is always right"...
You should have been trained to put out a wet floor sign as soon as you started mopping, so really it's your manager's fault if you weren't.

Well, was there a sign? If not, it's your fault.
If there was not a wet floor sign, he could sue, from the stories I've heard from America.
