Today, I gave the guy I've been seeing a copy of my newly published book, because I know he loves writing. He started reading and commented on how amazing it was. Then he gave it back. He didn't realize it was a gift. My awkward self didn't correct him. I'd written him a sweet letter inside. FML

At least he liked it and told you how amazing it was :)

Give it to him next time you meet up! "Hey, since you liked my book so much, I brought you a copy."

Present it to him wrapped with your autograph. And don't feel too bad. I gave my mother a copy of my first book and she lost it.

Unlike your book, you have no spine. Just reissue it with no margin for error this time. You're bound to get it right. The End.

Oh shut up. You clearly have no idea what it's like to have social anxiety cause if you did, you wouldn't have written your comment. It's not as easy as "get over it" or telling her that she has no spine. Have some empathy.

I can relate to how you were feeling op. Six years with my God and I still have those moments.

You gave your God a book? Usually people render money or animals as sacrifices. Books are a new one.

Next time, say something like, "thanks, it's for you", or "glad you like it, you can keep that copy"

You can go up to him and tell him that it was a gift, or say: "since you liked it so much, you can keep it."

"Hey since you liked my book so much I thought I'd get you a signed copy!" There, problem solved.

Repeat after me, "no, no that's yours to keep."
