Today, I gave the guy I've been seeing a copy of my newly published book, because I know he loves writing. He started reading and commented on how amazing it was. Then he gave it back. He didn't realize it was a gift. My awkward self didn't correct him. I'd written him a sweet letter inside. FML

At least he liked it and told you how amazing it was :)

Next time you see him give it to him again and pretend like it is a different copy made specifically for him. If you say that upfront he won't give it back again

If he'd read the book, how come he didn't come across the letter? Surely that would've made it clear it was a gift?

He probably just read through the first pages. Maybe her note was in the back of the book.

Nothing happened relax. You'll be alright.

If he didn't see the note, then he didn't really read it.

Congrats on getting published! I'm so jealous. I feel you, though. Writing is easy (not really). Love is harder.

Congrats on being published, that's a great accomplishment :) Also I think the note in the book idea was really creative, and I wish you luck with getting him the book containing said note ^w^

Tell him it's a gift! He'll appreciate it!!

Come back the next day with the book and say, "Here, since you like it so much, you can have this copy."

The guy probably already knows OP likes him. It's a romantic gesture. While it's nice to have all of that said to your face, can't you see how lovely it can also be to FIND it unexpectedly? As something you can treasure and read multiple times, no less.

What was the title of said book, I would love to read it.
