Today, my mom told me that she had great news: we were going to meet my biological parents. I didn't know I was adopted. FML

Do you know how expensive it is to adopt a child and how much of a hassle it is? Your adoptive parents treasure you! I hope you don't find out your biological parents are assholes and they'd better have a good story about why they gave you up!

Not a very graceful way to find out that you were adopted. And the parents who raised you and loved you should have talked to you first about if you wanted to meet your birth parent(s) before springing this on you. OP, your adoptive parents loved you and cared for you all this time. Nothing changes that. Your birth parent(s) gave you up because they could not raise you for whatever reasons they had. But that does not matter, you real parents are the ones who took care of you and raised you. While it may be interesting to see what you have in common with your birth parent(s) you will always be a chosen part of your adoptive parents family.
