Today, I had to explain to my 25-year-old boyfriend why we cannot get pet raccoons. This is not the first time we have had this conversation. FML

Well, why the hell not? Raise them from cubs and they're just as amiable and loving as any other slightly-less-than-common pet.

Honestly there's nothing wrong with having a raccoon as a pet. We had one when I was growing up and it was an awesome pet. Just make sure you adopt one from a creditable source and when its young. Ours was a new born whose mother had started eating his brothers and sisters when a flood started in the area where they lived.
