I saw a TV show a while ago where they had done a survey that showed that this exact kind of behavior (just leaving shopping trolleys in the parking lot instead of putting them back to where they're supposed to stand and likewise) was the one thing that annoyed people the most of things people did, so it seems that your mother is a source of annoyance for quite a lot of people.
