Catch 22

Today, I found out I have a restraining order against me from my ex boyfriend. Apparently, I drive by his house too much and it is considered stalking. He forgot that I live 2 houses down, and MUST drive by his house to get home. FML

He must have a high opinion of himself if he thinks you would drive past his house every day just to see him. If you can't drive past his house how are you going to get home?

Are you sure the restraining order is real? Or maybe you're not tell us the entire story. A restraining order doesn't say anything about stalking. It will have something about not approaching within so many feet.

why does it feel like I've seen this one before? :/

#23: Really?!?! Really!? How do you think you get to the point of a personal protection order? (aka: restraining order)

a restraining order is DIFFERENT than a order of protection or an ex parte. A restraining order is NOT related to a police department at all, you hire a lawyer to get one, and you can get one granted for almost anything. Orders of protection are much harder to get....

I definitely second #16. People need to get over themselves, trying to point out how ever FML is either fake or not worthy of an FML. If you don't like it, fine...I know there are quite a few that I read and I think "...Okay?" after doing so, but spamming up EVERY SINGLE ONE with at least one "This is sooooo fake" is obnoxious and counter-productive. Stop over-analyzing the site. It's not supposed to be scientific fact, it's supposed to be reading interesting/funny stories about people who have especially bad experiences in their life. I don't think I've ever seen an FML removed, so clearly whining about it isn't going to do anything except annoy the living daylights out of everyone just trying to enjoy themselves. Anyways, this does suck...it probably won't affect you since if you get in serious trouble for driving past your ex's house you can bring to their attention how close the two of you live, but it's still pretty irksome and stupid. Nonetheless, you can laugh at the fact that he's your ex since clearly he's completely self-centered and unintelligent.

You can't go around the block?

Why should she have to? Not her fault her ex is dumber than a sack of hammers and she shouldn't have to change her route home because of him.

Depends how many mph you drive past and frequency and whether you always looking at his place? In any event seems like someone isn't over you! I mean he's looking out for your car and also he went through all that effort? Would make sense if you broke up with him? He's probably seeking attention. Lma0

I would suggest contacting the police office and going over that restraining order.... who knows they might even file a charge against him for pressing fall charges

but then again, to get a restraining order, he would have had to take her to court for it to go through. unless the OP meant she found out she was due in court for it. so to everyone saying it's fake, there is a chance she meant the latter.
