well at least everyone knows your gettin some
I understand where everyone is coming from that the messaging program should be off before a presentation begins but I want people to realize that some companies use instant messaging to communicate with others. Someone else mentioned this above and I'm really glad they did because everyone seems to be assuming that she was on it wasting time. She could have been using it to communicate with other employees, other branches, clients, etc. I do agree that she should have checked and/or turned it off before hooking her computer up to a projector though. And some messenger programs do have a "presentation mode" that would keep things from popping up or making noises. From the way I took it, she didn't leave WORK for a quicky but she most likely went during her lunch break. Good for her and her boyfriend for keeping their relationship active!
It's nice of you to want to give OP the benefit of the doubt but, really, corporations that sanction IM use for internal communications generally have secure, dedicated IM hosts/clients and accounts are managed by an IT administrator internally. That negates the ability of "boyfriend" to send "quickie invites" over their system while in the middle of a presentation. Any company that is relying on AIM/iChat or any other public IM system can't be that serious about computer usage policies and, therefore, probably didn't care that the OP was getting an invite to **** during a presentation!
At Microsoft, we have the Office Communicator which is basically a specialized corporate version of Live Messenger and integrates well with Outlook. And no, it isn't used for quickie invites.
I hope they didn't have a problem with it. Everyone is horny once in a while, hell some are horny every hour!
I sighed when you made a point of saying it was on a mac. No youre gonna get a bunch of YDIs from retards who don't like Macs.

Why didn't you sign off before the meeting? YDI for not being professional enough to separate work and home.
You can't turn off instant messaging on a Mac?
