Cutting corners

Today, my boss expects me to conduct a meeting with a client, give him all the info he needs, and manage his campaign. This is because he fired the "expensive" marketing director and wants me, the intern, to continue his work. FML

Unless he is paying you I wouldn't help him at all. His stupidity doesn't warrant you having to help.

That's actually great work experience....even if it lasts for a day....

Hopefully you won't be an intern for much longer.

Keep doing a good job and i guarantee you will get the job. Learn the ropes and master it!

Maybe this doesn't have to be an F Op's life at all! Maybe this is the first step towards a promising career!

Do it. It will serve you well regardless of how it turns out.

Personally I would take that as a opportunity to shine. I'd do my absolute best without complaining and hope for a raise/to be hired. If it doesn't happen after due time THEN I'd say FML.

I hope you did it anyways, OP. Not only to learn and gain experience, but to maybe advance your career. Your employers may not always be easy to work with, in a lot of different careers, so don't let the boss destroy the benefits you can get from your internship.

I don't see how this is an fml. This is an opportunity to prove yourself as an asset to your company.

Being an intern is like being a slave.

Hey, now you'll be able to say on your resume that you handled an emergency situation in relation to a client at work. Good luck - make the best of it!

The whole point of interning is to gain work experience and see if you can handle being in that field. Hang in there, even though you're not getting paid for it and it seems a lot. This will look great for future paying jobs.

There's nothing to be gained from being expected to do work you're not qualified for. If OP doesn't have the actual training, being expected to wing it is setting them up for failure. And if by some chance they do succeed, are they capable of determining why, and repeating that success? For all we know the OP may be in a completely different field of study. You don't ask a teacher to fly a plane, or a comedian to conduct an orchestra.
