what in the world gave you the idea he'd want to go to a spa in the first place? no self-respecting heterosexual male would be caught dead in a spa.
haha take him anyway. he deserves it for being a prick.
A spa? Seriously? I think that was more of a present for yourself then anything else. Not many guys like spas. They ones that do are either meterosexual or homosexual. Buy him something he will enjoy next time.
Wtf kind of guy wants to go to a spa?! YDI
What do you mean how? They've been together '3 years' how can she not know.......observation fail. I'm a guy, yes I like massages (what guy doesn't), but never would I go to a spa day. If I want a massage I'd get a masseuse or ask my girl for one. Maybe you should start paying attention more to what men do and generally like. Spa day ain't on that list. If you want to do that for your bf, just be prepared for him to give you the wtf look and walk away. Massage = 1 hr of excellent relation, Spa day = ALL DAY frilly foo foo fun time. Huge difference.
he's just trying to be a hard ass, he will like it. and maybe you should know him a little better after 3 years to think that he may not want a spa day (generally feminine thing)

FYL for already paying for it, but YDI for not knowing what he likes.
Take your best friend and get him something else and just don't tell him about your original idea. It's not that big of a deal. P.S. You'd think after 3 years you'd know if he liked spa days or not.
