Today, I swam in a race against all of the girls in the midwest in the hardest, longest, most grueling race you can swim. I won. Happy but so tired I could barely move, I looked up to see my time. I had been disqualified. For flinching. Before the race started. FML

Today, I was at a swim meet, swimming as hard as I'd ever swum before. During the last lap I saw no one in the lanes next to me. Thinking I was first, I became extremely excited. When I came to the wall, I realized the reason no one else was around: They already finished the race. I was last. FML

Today, I was at a swim meet. I was on a relay team and I was the anchor. My team was in 1st. I was ready to dive in when I saw my tampon string was hanging out of my suit. I freaked, slid off the block, and fell on top of the guy before me and gave him a concussion. We got DQed for a false start FML

Today, I was up against two others in a 120m race on my school's sports day. Unexpectedly, I heard my name being chanted from most of the classes watching and well, this made me want to win so much that I leaned forward too much whilst running and ended up tripping and rolling on the track. I heard loud sighs after. FML

Draining

Today, my swim coach had me swim a 400 meter freestyle. Feeling a little sick near the end, I lifted my head to breathe, then burped, and threw up violently all in the pool. All my team mates screamed horrified running out of the pool, and now they have to drain it. I was told not to come back. FML

Today, I was in swimming practice at the pool. I suddenly got breathless, dizzy, and felt like I was drowning. I cried out to the instructor, telling him I had a weak heart. He shouted back, "I don't care about your love life! Swim, bitch!" FML

Today, I tried to impress our swim team coach by doing a complicated backflip from the diving board. I landed face-first in the pool and had to be rescued by the lifeguard, so I guess I won't be going to the Olympics any time soon. FML

Today, I decided to get back in shape so I went swimming. I only managed 10 lengths and was completely out of breath. I was so embarrassed that when a lifeguard asked me if I was OK, I made up a story about a leg injury as a reason to leave only 15 minutes after I got in. FML

Today, I took part in a charity run for a good cause. I'd trained for months and showed up, only to trip and fall flat on my face at the starting line. I spent the rest of the race with scraped knees and a bruised ego. FML

Today, a new session started for my swimming squad. I walked down to the pool, tripped over a stray equipment bag, and belly-flopped into the pool in front of everyone, fully clothed. I'm the coach. FML

Today, at the beach, I swam pretty far out into the ocean. I ended up getting pummelled by the waves and got a painful cramp in my leg. The whole beach watched me flail and scream, while my friends rolled their eyes as they dragged me out of the water. FML

How is that grounds for disqualification? And shouldn't they have told you before the race started that you were disqualified?

Omg! I HATE being disqualified! I can't even imagine how annoying it wuld be to be disqualified from the 1650! (I'm assuming you are talking about the mile). That just sucks

Oh, when I was like 7, there was this thing in cub scouts... It was like a pinewood derby, but with rubber-band-powered rockets... I got to the last race, but they had the parents release them... My mom let go too early, and mine was disqualified. She released it about an eighth of a second too early, but it finished at least a second in front of all the others. I would have won.

yeah this would suck. it happened to me at regions a few weeks ago in the 200 breast after i had made my junior naional cut and made it back to finals and i was so mad! but this is bull shit because i was at midwest regions and this definetly didnt happen to anyone in the 500, 1000, mile, or 400 im because i swam all of those events

Guys it was the 200 fly. When you start you do NOT know if you got dqed...there is no light, just an officials arm that goes up but you cant see that when youre focusing. And their arm goes up as soon as you start so this swimmer had NO idea. and ps, the 200 fly is NOT a good experience. this is a total fml

omg that sucks.. 200 fly? wow good for you for even attempting that. at our districts i was seeded 5th, 4th medals and i dove in and my googles fell off into my mouth so i couldnt breath or see and i ended up getting 7th fml
