By James - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, we got our yearbooks for school. I opened to my profile to see that they misspelled my first name which is James. They wrote Lames. FML

The yearbook editors are supposed to triple check the names to prevent that kind of stuff. sorry you were the subject of their carelessness/incompetence.

That happened to my friend - instead of showing a baby picture of her, they showed a baby picture of this chubby white boy (she's black and skinny.) They fixed it with a little addition, though. So I kinda know what you're going through.

In my yearbook's choir photo for my sophomore year, my name wasn't credited. Instead, they replaced it with some other girl's name. This girl was never in choir, and we only vaguely looked alike. Apparently, the editor looked at the photo, thought it was the other girl on first glance, and didn't bother to double check with our director on who the choir members were. So I sort of feel your pain. Either someone made a ridiculously stupid mistake, or you're the victim of a mean (but funny) prank.

#1, don't be so fast to jump to conclusions. My high school yearbook used to be filled with errors. My senior year, they accidentally put one persons picture on top of another! So minor mistakes like this are entirely believable, especially since many high schools have their yearbooks assembled by a yearbook club, which is all students. Plus J and L are close to each other on QWERTY, so if the person who was doing this was not a good typist, (i.e, a student) then it is entirely believable.
