Maybe try introducing each other to friends? People tend to surround themselves with people who are similar to themselves. If the two of you pair so well maybe one of your platonic friends will be just right for the other! Or hey, if you both feel the attraction, go for it. Who's to say you can't realize you're gay later in life?
