Double standards

Today, my bus got held up in traffic, so I arrived home about 15 minutes late. My mum bitched me out, accused me of sleeping around, and grounded me. All this while my brother raged at his video game in the other room, screaming stuff such as "EAT SHIT, YOU CUNTS!" with total impunity. FML

Mothers; some are good some aren't! Mine is in the later category as well OP and I feel your pain. Promise life won't alway be this difficult and your mother won't always try to run or ruin your life!

Nope, pretty sure my mother didn't give two ***** about me. She's ground me for eating a Popsicle. Bought pizza and later on accuse me of sneaking out and buying the pizza; I've never snuck out. Birthdays? Yea, couldn't invite my friends to my own birthday dinner because she wanted to make sure my brother and his friends were there because he deserved more than me because I was a disgrace to her I've spent thanksgiving alone because my mother was too busy cooking for 6 of her 7 husbands families at their mothers house and was too embarrassed to bring me. I've say there why she cried to "god" what had she ever done to have a daughter like me; I'm not beautiful enough or smart enough for her. Need I go on? May i just add that I was an excellent student, never got did anything wrong except for the bullshit she made up in her head? So, no, I don't think my mother had my best interest at heart.

Woah #67.. This isn't Facebook.. That's a pretty lengthy and detailed description of your life. Just trying to be straight up and honest with you, but people aren't going to give two ***** about your problems on FML. That's the harsh reality. I mean, the whole point of FML is to laugh at someone else's misfortune.

It's unfair how parents treat their sons and daughters differently. However, I think that reactions like that don't usually come out of nowhere. You must have done something in the past for her not to trust you.

If you can I'd recommend moving out, my brother could do as be pleased whereas I'd get into shit for being 5 minutes late. After I moved out my Mother and I developed a better relationship and we get on nowadays. My brother is still a ****, but at least I get on with my Mam now.
