I am so worried that is going to happen to me someday!
why advise the child it's the parent who picks out the food and makes the meals i don't know many 5 year olds who buy groceries and make all the meals
You should try talking to the parents to also help her eat better but plan some family activities as well.
#85: Telling the mother directly can lead to offence and indignation on their part, which would make it less likely for them to follow their advice and therefore hurting the child. Plus, educating children early can lead to a retention of that knowledge as they get older.
#89: so, you would only listen to a doctor if they were in perfect health themselves? Just because a doctor isn't necessarily healthy doesn't mean they don't know what they're talking about.
She's young and you probably had it coming for being overweight like her.
[?]ANDY™[?] says (10:34 PM): dunno how that's an FML. thats an OWNED

Why the HELL is anybody saying the doctor deserved this? 5 years old and 65lbs is quite overweight. The average 5 year old is somewhere between 30-40, give or take a bit. The kid will have all kinds of health problems if something doesn't change soon, and Doc here was doing their JOB. Also, #11 is right, the one who should be getting the lecture is dear old Mom and Dad, probably letting their kid eat too many snacks and sodas and junk. Poor kid.
I'd say the kid's the one who should be saying FML...at that age, they really have no control over what they eat, so its entirely the parent's fault for letting them eat poorly.
