Today, an elderly man had to give me money to pay for my grocery bill because my sister broke down crying in the store as I didn't have enough money to pay for both her milkshake and cookies. She's 19. FML

I'd have refused the money, can't have people break down crying each time they don't get a milkshake and cookies.

should have told her to stop and pick one item and if she kept on get her nothing I always tell my father who buys my groceries if he can't afford to get me things to let me know so he's not missing meals during the week

all of these people just calling the sister a brat without thinking of her point need to stop. maybe the sister is pregnant? her hormones going crazy and shes craving milk and cookies. tell a pregnant woman no to her cravings. from experience, it is a BIG mistake. maybe the old man knew that and felt sorry for OP. or, maybe the sister is not pregnant and was raised by parents who will give their child anything to make them stop crying in a grocery store. and she is just used to crying to get her way. and it sounds like it worked on the old man. or maybe the sister is diabetic and needs sugar ASAP
