Feel the love

Today, I told my mom about how my friend is going to China for a year instead of college. My mom suggested that I could do the same. When I told her that a trip to China is probably more expensive than my college tuition, my mom replied, "Not for a one way ticket". FML

You wouldn't buy a ticket a whole year in advance. So yeah, for a one way ticket it's cheaper. But your stupid so you should stay there.

Actually, China for a year probably would cost significantly less than tuition for a year. I was very surprised at how inexpensive everything was when I was there. You should feel lucky that you have a parent who encourages you to travel, even if it's just because they just want you out of the house.

To everyone saying that tuition is more expensive, it is not. In Canada, you can get an excellent education for very little money compared to the United States. Depending on the university you choose, you can get away with paying $3000 for tuition yearly.

Don't forget living expenses! My rez was about 8,000, not to mention tuition which was almost 6,000.

Okay, I just looked it up and it's definitely less than 1000 for a round-trip for a year! No community college is that cheap! Not even in Canada! Also, they are not talking about living expenses, the talk is about the tickets.

1. She was kidding 2. a 25k tuition is less money than one $400 ticket. The OP can pay for food, utilities, etc. by getting a job, and so it's really less expensive than 25k, room and board, plus food. The reason being that if you were in college, you wouldn't have enough time for a well paying, full time job

You didn't take living expenses in China into account.

One way tickets are in fact wayyyy more expensive than roundtrip-tickets. I'm speaking from experience here. I just moved from Germany to the US and the one way ticket cost about... twice as much. No kidding.
