Today, I listened to my roommate and her friend struggle with their math homework for an hour. It wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that I'm a math major and repeatedly offered my help. They'd rather fail math than be around me. FML

OP all I have to say is if they don't want help it can't be forced but al least you did the right thing and offered. So forget them go hang out with your friends and let them fail. Not trying to be mean to them but that's how it is. So good luck to you and forget them. :)

I've learned to just not try to help people with math. Too many people don't care about learning, and don't care if they're doing it wrong. They also take offence to being corrected sometimes. I remember a few summers ago I worked pumping gas at a gas station, and while pumping I noticed the lady sitting in her car was doing some math in a notebook and made an error, but I didn't want to correct her (partially because she might be upset that I was looking at her notebook, and partially because a lot of the time when I correct people they get angry). Every few months I remember that lady, and wonder what the math was for and if it was important and whether correcting her would have made a considerable difference in the world.

You know what OP, I'd say FTL not yours. Your roommate is the one who will fail because they didn't take the help that was offered. You can't let others get you down over their shortcomings and immaturity.
