Fill em up!

By gkid92 - This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff - Canada

Today, I found out that if I don't get fillings in at least ten of my teeth within the next year, I could lose them all. I'm 19. FML

Pop, most fruit juices, sports drinks, citrus fruits, anything with citric or phosphoric acid rots your teeth. Stop consuming these things and you can slow the rapid decay of your mouth. If you vomit often (frequent illness, body image issues, whatever) rinse your mouth well, preferably brush your teeth ASAP after vomiting. Stomach acid wrecks teeth as well, that why a lot of bulimic people have nasty mouths. If you're using illicit drugs, like meth, stop that shit, you're ruining your eating hole among other things.

As a person that was on chemotherapy... you should never brush your teeth after vomiting because the enamel is now soft and you can brush it away; you need to use mouth wash, preferably a few rounds of the 30 second swishing.

Good point. Most people aren't readily thinking of brushing their teeth straight after vomiting, but at bare minimum a mouth rinse with water will help. Also, softer tooth brushes, hard brushes just scratch away enamel on any teeth.

To address those that said fillings are painful....Usually the worst part is a little pinch when the doctor injects lidocaine to numb the area. After you are numb you can feel vibration from the drill and sometimes the cold from the water used to cool the tooth as the drill works, but no pain. If there were to be any real pain I would suggest you raise your hand on the opposite side of where the doctor is positioned. Tell the doctor and more lidocaine can be used. You should get them filled as soon as you can to prevent further decay. Your dentist should discuss dental hygiene with you and address any questions you have in regards to possible reason for the decay. Good luck

Some people have deep ridges in their teeth. This can cause you to need fillings. My molars had natural, deep, valley-like ridges which were impossible to fully reach with a toothbrush. Coupled with my apparent soft enamel, I've needed multiple fillings -- mostly as a measure of preventative maintenance. It's not always about hygiene. Sometimes it's just how your teeth are made.

YDI, clean them or they be hating you.

I feel your pain! I need four to six fillings and 2 crowns along with one cavity fixed. Guess what? IM ONLY 14!!!! I DON'T EVEN EAT ALOT OF CANDY!!!

Guess you've never had a first kiss then. YDI for not caring about basic hygiene.
