Foiled

Today, I was at the airport, when a lady came up and loudly asked if she could sit next to me. I have serious social issues, so to avoid having to talk to her, I pretended I was deaf and couldn't hear her. She immediately broke out her sign language skills. FML

You could have just nodded/shook your head.

Or you could have done an interpretive dance.

anti social or just being a jerk

The irony gods were smiling down at that moment.

Is this the raj from the Big Bang theory??

You could have ducked into the ladies room and drowned yourself in the toilet.

So it other words, "I'm an asshole, and got called out on it." I can understand not wanting to talk to a person, but to find an excuse to not even acknowledge the presence of a woman who was polite enough to consider asking if she could sit? Couldn't even give the courtesy of a simple nod? Nothing short of rude and immature, and you totally deserve the ensuing humiliation. Just stay home if socializing bothers you that much.

Guys, she could have social anxiety. Stop telling her she's an asshole, bitch, etc. Having social issues is horrible, sometimes even nodding is rough.

Wow OP you're a jerk. She just asked to sit next to you. YDI

These people know how to track you...even though I'm the only one at the train station reading and obviously listening to music, people still keep asking me for directions.

What is talking like a normal person? I am Deaf, I know sign language, I have social anxiety... But I speak perfectly fine - if I do not wan to speak to people, I let them know I'm Deaf, but if they "catch" me speaking like a "normal" person, why would that automatically mean I lied about being Deaf?
