Looks like you impressed them............. Not!
I hate when people pull out their phones at the dinner table.
They're right. It is really, really rude to take out your phone at the table, especially when you're a guest in someone's home. It's the equivalent of telling them you'd rather be somewhere else. They probably shouldn't have taken your phone away, but in principle, they're in the right and you're in the wrong.
Neither party was in the right. The way that this fml is written suggests that it was a one time thing. Which would call for a warning not a full-blown take the phone away type reaction, especially when they might not have informed her of said rule. And also maybe she's used to being able to text at the dinner table while at someone else's place? Some people don't mind people texting while at the dinner table.
Let's say it's kind of impolite to use your phone during dinner at someone else's home. But they're not allowed to take your phone, they're not your f****** parents.
Ha ha ha, you deserved it! That's when you go to the bathroom or outside, like when you go out for a smoke.
I think I'm missing something here: where does it say she was texting? I see a lot of people getting all worked up because she was texting during dinner, but all this fml says is she received a text and pulled her phone out to check. And yes, it does make a difference. Anyway, for all we know OP could've been nervous and didn't stop to think before pulling her phone out. I mean, if she's dining with people who would rather take her belongings away instead of just politely pointing out her flaw, my guess is the dinner wasn't going that smoothly to begin with.

It's proper etiquette -.-
Are they one of those crazy families that sit in dead silence while they eat, too?
