When I was taught etiquette by my parents, one of the golden rules was that correcting the etiquette of a guest is one of the rudest and most disrespectful things you can do. Especially when done in front of other people. Sure, it may have been rude for OP to pull out her phone at dinner, but it was FAR more rude of her boyfriend's parents to confiscate it, especially without warning, when they could have simply made a polite request. And after that spectacle they had the nerve to lecture HER on bad table manners. FYL.
My parents have that rule also but if one of my friends are over they won't take there phone away
Iif you're meeting his parents for the first time don't you think it's a little rude to be checking your phone? Bad impression much? If it had been important I'm sure the person would have called.
Bad assumption to make. I know plenty of people who text for everything both casual and emergency.
Good! It's rude as shit to use your phone at the dinner table, NEVER MIND when you're meeting your boyfriend's parents for the first time. Grow up. YDI.
thats your own damn fault
That's just general courtesy. YDI for being a dumb bitch and using no manners on your first Merton with them. FTL for having to enforce this rule because you don't have any manners.
*meeting **** you apple! how does your retarded auto correct get Merton from meeting with the g missing?
Dumb bitth is too extreme, you over zealous fucktard.

It's proper etiquette -.-
Are they one of those crazy families that sit in dead silence while they eat, too?
