Skipping one class means nothing. I skipped like 4 sessions of my college class and still had an A in the class. Life doesn't revolve around school or work. You need to live your life.

Your life doesn't revolve around school or work because you're 20. When you're 30 and a failure at life because you didn't give a crap about school, it will certainly revolve around work as you'll be spending 8+ hours a day at a job you hate.

If I hate my job then my life certainly will not revolve around it, no matter how much time I spend there. I spend 8 hours sleeping, but my life does not revolve around it.

Yes, I would skip a class for a friend if they really needed me. What's really needing? It's not "hey I need someone to come with for an ice cream" but it is "hey my uncle died can you take care of this at my house for me?" or "I'm way out of town, can you pick up and watch my son for me until I get there?" or... taking someone to an airport when nobody else can. Also, I like to try and be communicative with my teachers. I may skip a class, but they'll know about it, and I'll be able to find out what I need for the next class. A few skipped classes doesn't always equal failed exams. I actually overused my allowed absences in my senior year of high school, but I still passed all but one of my classes. I understand what you're saying, but you are assuming I will just blow off a class for anything, when that's not the case at all. Plus, yes it's true, your life doesn't revolve around your school or work. A classmate of mine had to be forcibly sent home because she refused to go home despite being ... well, it can only be described as "deathly" sick. Seriously, she looked like death. She didn't want to stay home because school was just much entirely too important oh god how could even think she miss it. See my point?

I had a "friend" who did exactly that. He would use me all the time and purposely lead me on, just like he did with a lot of other girls. I hate to break it to you, but friends are capable of using you too.
