Today, my religious mother found out I work at Planned Parenthood. Now everytime she sees me, she prays until I leave the room. FML

While that may suck for you, I couldn't help but chuckle a little at the thought of someone doing that. Honestly if I were you I'd do little things to mess with her like leave pamphlet and other things around since she wants to be petty

Say anything that promotes pro life or religious freedom on this app: extreme down vote. Defend a Christian : down vote. Say anything conservative: down vote. I bet this will be down voted as well

It will be down voted, because it is generalizing and not accurate. I have defended Christians and religious people many times on here, and I was up voted, usually the comments that directly insult or criticize people for their belief system are down voted. You want to know why the pro life comments are down voted, usually because they say offensive, stupid, and not medically accurate things, like "baby killer," "maybe you shouldn't be such a *****," "abortion is murder," etc. Also, I have never seen anyone criticized for supporting "religious freedom" on here, but if your idea of religious freedom is forcing other people to abide by the rules of others/your religion, that isn't ******* freedom, and yes, you will be down voted for it. Just cause this freedom gives you the right to worship whatever you want, does not mean you get to force the rules from YOUR religion down OTHER'S throats, because not everyone believes that you believe. Which is another reason many people are critical of the pro life stance here, it forces beliefs on people, where the pro choice side does not. You don't believe in abortion, cool, don't get one, but you do not get to make decisions for other people, especially when it has no effect on you. It does tend to be more liberal on this site, people have different views and ideas than you, go figure, it's as of we're individuals with our own thoughts. If you don't like the things said on here, or it's more "liberal" nature, here's an idea, don't read it.

She needs to realize that planned parenthood does more than abortions they also provide affordable healthcare to female dealing with feminine issues and they help families who want to get pregnant

She should just litany to herself. You're wrong to work at Planned Parenthood, but she's also wrong to alienate you. I'm gonna go pray too, for both of you.

Maybe you should pray louder, praising the lord that women and their unborn children are able to get help where they need it and that you have a part in that.

I see a few options for this, depending on whether or not you want to try and salvage your relationship with your mother or not. IF SO: 1) Quote Scripture about tolerance back at her while she prays. Maybe it will stick. 2) Pray in turn, but for understanding, tolerance, and patience. 3) Try and get other family members to intervene, such as holding a conversation with you and your mother. If she prays then, she's clearly being rude to the other person, so... IF NOT: 1) Be in the same room as her for hours. Maybe wear earplugs or small earbuds, so she doesn't know you can't even hear her. 2) Follow her, especially in public. Let's see if she loudly prays in the middle of the grocery store. 3) Leave pamphlets and such around. 4) Start saluting her when she enters a room, proclaiming "Heil Hitler!"

Unless you personally are the one performing the abortions then I don't see why this is her response... sounds like she has good intentions but is going about it the wrong way. I'm pretty sure this is NOT what Jesus would do! Please don't let her behavior turn you off from Christianity or religion.

the place she works at is called PLANNED PARENTHOOD women go there because they want to be expecting or already are
