Today, after losing my father a little over 6 months ago, and finally feeling comfortable talking to my fiancé (who lives with me and my family) about it, my mother forced her way into the room and started yelling at me for crying. Her excuse, "It’s after your bedtime." I’m 20. FML

Wait, what am I seeing here? It took you six months to get comfortable enough to talk to your fiancé about losing your dad? This does not sound good.

While OP’s mom was acting stupid and insensitive, she also lost a husband 6 months ago. It’s possible she has not fully processed her grief and was reacting the way she did because of that. Sometimes otherwise good people say and do stupid and insensitive things.

Oh, wow. Shame on you for crying after bedtime. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I find it odd that someone you are engaged to, you wait till then to talk to him about it..

I lost my Dad this year as well. it is tough, there is no timeline to grief, and sometimes others just arent ready to deal with certain parts of it. i bought cardboard cutouts for a baseball team's stands of me and my parents from a game last year, and I was happy about it, but my Mom wasn't ready to see that
