Today, I was in the dressing room of my favorite store. While looking in the mirror at a shirt I really like, the fire alarm went off. In a panic, I ran out of the store like everyone else. The sensor went off on my shirt and I was banned from the store for attempted theft. FML

You didn't tell them you were wearing the shirt because you didn't want to let it catch on fire?

#4, that's not true. I live in the U.S. The only fire drills we have are in school, not the mall.

its not that bad, just attempt to explain yourself its not like you actually wanted to steal that shirt! 4 what the hell? a fire drill in the mall? stupidest thing EVER! anyway FYL

That is so messed up, I'm surprised they didn't take into account, you know, the screaming alarm.

I know someone involved in a fire alarm in Toys'R'Us before christmas a few years ago. They left the store with a trolley full of shopping and managed to get home with it, unpaid for. No one noticed or cared. Surely if you were wearing the shirt they wouldnt expect you to risk death by fire by having to change. I hate shopping malls lol.

Report them to the fire marshal, or whatever you have in your area. Explain to them that they expected you to change during a legitimate fire alarm, thus impeding an evacuation, which is about as illegal as it gets. They'll lose their licence to do business, at worst, or a hefty fine at best. Worst case scenario you could always use that on the manager to strong arm them into lifting your ban and getting the employee to apologise.

well, did you get to keep the shirt? (:

if the store doesn't understand the situation then they don't deserve your business
