haha, reminds me of a scene from "twitches" (diseny movie).
that's stupid of the store. i wouldn't let them get away with that. and yes, i'm feeling this is a fake.
#4- I get people not taking fire alarms seriously in SCHOOL, but in a department store?? Why wouldn't you take it seriously? Anyway, that sounds pretty ridiculous- They really expected you to stop and change shirts BEFORE you evacuated? Wow.
No actually, #4 has a fair point. I work in a mall, and one time the fire alarm went off for a FULL TWENTY MINUTES. When it began going off, everyone people looked around to see what other people were doing. Everyone was waiting for someone else to react. When no one panicked or exited the building, they just went about their shopping totally normally. For twenty minutes, with the alarm buzzing loudly. Even when the announcement went off over the intercom to evacuate, people still were looking around to see what everyone else was doing and some were even mad that they had to leave. Turned out to be a false alarm but still. People are sheep. If a couple people panic and run, they all will. If people are just acting like it's no big deal, they all will. Fact of life.
To everyone calling #4 stupid, I work in a drug store (while going to college and earning a degree in Actuarial Mathematics to anyone who was going to call me unintelligent or uneducated), and we've had several incidents where the fire alarm has gone off. Actually, only a few customers left right away, and even after announcements saying that everyone had to leave, we still had people asking if they really had to leave or attempting to buy things. And OP, really, I agree with most of the other people, talk to a manager. And if they still ban you, try to go over their head, to a district manager or owner or something, depending on the store. An alarm going off would constitute an emergency, and they can't expect people to take the time to change back into their own clothes before leaving in an emergency. If you returned the shirt after everything was cleared, there shouldn't be a problem.
