All of the people who are commenting that the confederate flag isn't racist obviously don't know anything about history and are most likely white and got their fairy tales from their KKK grandpa...
It does not symbolize racism. Obviously somebody hasn't picked up a history book. It is heritage not hate.
It became a symbol of racism when the KKK started using it in the 50's and 60's but the flag itself has nothing to do with racism.
Heritage not hate.
Nice soundbite.
It's a little hard to separate the two, but aside from KKK (allegedly. The actual KKK flag is silver eagle on azure.) The flag is a legitimate symbol of the South. The same type people who display the St. Andrew Cross (in Scotland) or the California Bear will quite innocently display the Rebel Flag. This doesn't make them racist (But it does make them nationalists, which statistically speaking...)
Because it is well known that slavery didn’t have any consequences and that as soon as they were freed black people did get the same rights and opportunities than white people.
If you think the confederate flag means racism then you're the ignorant one. The confederate flag is a symbol of the south but people have made it racist because they wanna start stuff. I have the flag tattooed on my arm but I'm 100% sure that doesn't make me racist I have a ton of black friends and it doesn't bother them. You guys are just ignorant and wanna start something.
THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!
The flag does not stand for racism anymore than being black stands means you are part of the black panthers or a looter/rioter in Ferguson. Listen to Brad Paisley if you need to.
She is not necessarily racist, but it is definitely a possibility. If she is I'm sorry you have to deal with that kind of trash and hopefully you can get your room or roommate switched ASAP.

It shouldn't, but it does, and too many effing people ignore that. The n word in the dictionary originally had a completely different meaning, but guess what? Now it means something else. People who hang and fly the confederate flag know exactly what it says. As far as the people who claim they fly it for "Southern pride" or their loss in the Civil War or whatever, they need to get over being all butthurt over losing a war that happened *150* years ago (and yes, the whole slavery part of it was a HUGE deal to them) and realize we are one nation, the UNITED States of America. All this whole Southern pride and cecession crap is BS and nonsense.
