Take it back. You're very lucky your AD (accidental discharge) ONLY cost you two toes. You or a loved one could have easily been killed. Return it and get a can of mace. You're not firearms material.

Safety should always be on unless you're ready to fire. The second you're done firing (at a range or in defense) even before it's set back down, the safety is back on. If all this was properly done and it was an accident, I'm sorry OP. That blows! (off toes!)

The only purpose of a gun is to kill or maim, so this isn’t even an accident, well done! At least it was just yourself and not someone else.
