Today, I was at IKEA with my parents. I walked away from them and later I heard the speaker of the store call my name asking me to come to the playground because my mom and dad were worried. I'm 18. FML

I keep seeing FMLs like this... Does no one have a cell phone? And what is up with parents these days!?

You're 18 and yet you act like an immature little brat by walking away or trying to play 'independent and grown-up' you deserved it.

Ha! My mom did that to me once, I was 12... and mortified at the time, I can't imagine how that felt as an 18 year old... Sounds like your parents bit into that new wave child raising... You know, being over protective so their little snowflake doesn't get hurt... Hell When my mom called my name over the loud speaker I had been wandering around the mall for over an hour. Look on the bright side, at least you know your parents worry about you, next time just ask them to call your cell phone when they need to find you, though. That way they know you're safe, and it isn't nearly as embarrassing for you.

next time just tell them you're leaving, call them (if you have a cellphone)....i mean they will always be your parents and we all know how parents are :)

@ all of UrLifeDoesntSuck's posts: really? so your parents have never bought furniture from anywhere other than a thrift store? shopping at IKEA with your parents doesn't make you spoiled. it makes you a bastard who thinks they had a sucky life and blames it on people who were a little better off. and if you start whining to me about it calling me spoiled, it'll only prove my point. As for the OP, that's happened to me before lol. And I'm 16. My mom's phone was on silent, so she didn't pick up when I called her to tell her where I was.

# URLife DoesntSuck, there's nothing wrong with having nice stuff and not wanting to be beckoned to the playground like a three year old. anyways, they didnt even say their parents were buying them stuff in the the FML. stop bitching that does suck. haha keep your phone on next time?

Those IKEA stores are ******* huge. I can imagine needing help finding others there. I remember that when the first IKEA store opened in my country, there were like 40,000 visitors in one day, and until now they average 8,000 a day, which is ridiculous considering its just a big shop. And what the **** guys, people go to IKEA stores for a lot of things. IKEA is fairly cheap. Why are you assuming she is getting lots of new furniture?

Meh, no one knows who you are, so not much of a FML.

well, that makes sense, the playground's usually a really easy place to find in IKEA. so it most likely wasn't your parents assuming you were at the playground, it was your parents being pragmatic as IKEAs are huge

trust me brown parents are WAYYY WORSE (personal experiance)
