Right now many birds are extremely hormonal, especially Cockatoos and Cockatiels. It's normal for birds to rub themselves on things and you should NOT punish them for it (no spraying, yelling, etc). Wait for the bird to finish and remove the toy or object it has been rubbing itself on. This might curb the problem, or it might find another place to do it. Don't get a female, this will not help things at all. You might just end up with babies or a dead female (some males will kill a mate if forced into it OR the female could become egg bound). Just make sure he isn't rubbing on something that can splinter and when he is finished, make sure you wipe down the spot. It is sort of embarassing when guests are over, but this is one of those things you have to deal with as a bird owner lol.
All I can say is that this is a Win for the bird. Rock On Polly.
wat Bird masturbation, what the ****?
So what, let the bird jerk off.

my lovebird used to ********** all the time on this rope. i'd let him but i noticed that he would get very snappy when he wasn't. so i took the rope away and after a while he calmed down. plus, it was disturbing to see him doing that O_O
Why is it a "problem" that your bird masturbates?

just found it on utube. never saw anything like this. there's no question about what that bird is doing. utbe has dozens of examples. the bird should be writing this fml. I can see the bird at a 12 step program. "Hi. My name is Polly and I'm a sex addict."
"shit it sounds hurt?"
