Her body, her choice

By Not a grandma - 15/03/2025 09:00 - United States

Today, I took my daughter to the hospital for a few tests, and it turns out that she's pregnant. She has always said that she doesn't want kids, but I hoped that already being pregnant might change her mind. She called to schedule an abortion during the drive back home. FML

At least she lives in a place where it’s legal and doesn’t have to fight through a dozen layers of bullshit.

As is her right. At least she's sticking to her guns.

How old is your daughter? A teenager? Adult? Is she married? In a relationship? Regardless of her decision of abortion, the fact is, if she never wanted kids, she should have been more careful and used birth control - multiple forms.

Stop assuming that every unplanned pregnancy is a result of irresponsibility or carelessness. It's gross and immature. Birth control can still fail, even when more than one form is used.

@Taurus_ChicKa - How do you know birth control wasn't used? It's not 100% effective, either. Stop assuming, AH.

You have zero rights to her body or choices. You suck it up, you give her what she needs, you look after her and you love her as your daughter not a ******* incubator for your satisfaction. Tell her to look into getting a coil fitted, it'll 99% save her from having to go through this again. You don't judge, you don't comment, you don't guilt. IF she changes her mind in the future, you can be Grandma but not until/unless SHE decides. You want another baby? Have it yourself.

She doesn't owe you grandchildren. You're not the one going through the physical toll of a pregnancy this time. You of all people should understand.

good for her. she doesn't want kids and it wouldn't be fair to an innocent child to grow up in a family that didn't want them to begin with. for shame on you.
