Today, my parents felt the need to lecture me about how people who "smoke the reefer" are a "waste of life" and will never amount to anything. I was baked during the entire conversation, and actually ended up breaking down in tears, because I realized they were totally right. FML

Its allright occasionally. just dont go bonkers. most of the people i know who smoke copious amounts do tend to be the dropout sort of people. I try not to smoke more than once a month :)

Some people who smoke all the time do amount to nothing and are extremely lazy in life, but that's only because they can't handle it. I wake 'n bake everyday and I have a full time job where I run a store. So their argument is incorrect.

Not trying to demean you or your job, but managing a store isn't all that difficult. Has it ever occurred to you that maybe you're just really intelligent and work hard enough that you maintain your status in SPITE of your drug use, and that you could go much farther in life without it? Just food for thought.

I do understand where you're coming from but managing a store is rather hard. On top of it I work as a pharmacy tech and go to to school to become a pharmacist and have straight A's in all my classes. Smoking actually makes me motivated to do all my homework and get my work done. I was clean for two years without drinking or and drug use and during that time was the worst I ever did in school. So in my mind it really depends on the person.

Actually, they were wrong. Whether or not you waste your life is up to you, not the weed. People who are prone to waste their lives often like to do so by smoking pot all day. However, that doesnt prove the inverse, that smoking pot makes you waste your life. There are plenty of folk who prove that wrong.

Just like some folks who amount to nothing like to drink all day, only difference between weed and alcohol is one is federally legal, the other one is not.

They were not right. Lots of pot heads amounted to something. Look at comedian doug benson, actor dave chapelle, musician wille nelson. George washington grew and smoked. They may have meant well, but were only trying to scare you

In my opinion, weed is only destructive if used by someone who lets it take over their life. I have friends who use medical marijuana, and they are perfectly functional, normal people. On the other hand, I've seen it destroy lives. OP, if you're the type of person who cannot control your use, I'm glad you learned something from the conversation. It seems that you're at a point where you need to evaluate WHY you smoke, and if it's worth it. Good luck!

When my kids leave me to live their adult lives and I'm old enough to retire, I will get my smoke on every day. I will stock up on wine at Costco, collect my social security and enjoy the end of my days. I just can't do that right now though because I have small children and I'm in college.

Um, I actually do. The way this comment was worded just sounded funny to me. To me, it just sounded like he was gonna collect Social Security and then buy weed with it, because he mentioned retiring, collecting S.S, and then Smoking weed; chronologically, that's how it seemed to me. Sorry if my response seemed stupid.

How much social security a person gets is determined by how much they paid out in taxes throughout their lives, so technically they are getting the money THEY paid out back.

Yes What she said ^^..But I think I see what you're saying. You think I meant that I'd be taking advantage of the govt. and then just live it up. That's not what I meant at all. I plan to work as hard as possible until I retire, with MY $$. Work hard now, relax later.

The only reason pot is illegal is because it can be a paper sub, and has other benefits. Legalize weed. Thumb down I know.
