Today, I found out I was passed over for the promotion I've wanted for 9 months at the fast food restaurant I work in. Who got the job? The 16 year old girl I trained 2 weeks ago. Their excuse was, "She has ambition." I'm going to college for food service management. She failed her drug test. FML

Today, I got demoted from my manager's position, only to be replaced by a 21 year-old who has never worked in retail in her life. I now have to spend the next month teaching her my job so they can fire me. FML

Today, I found out that the reason I didn't get the job that I have been working my butt off for over a year for is because they can't find anybody who can do my current job as good as me. I'm too good to be promoted. FML

Today, I was passed over for the job of my dreams. I now have to watch as a girl I have on Facebook - a total moron - boasts daily about scoring the position instead. Turns out the interviewer was her uncle. FML

Today, I worked a long shift at my job while feeling like crap, anticipating getting a promotion. As my boss was leaving work, he informed me that because I also go to college, the promotion was being given to another employee that I trained a month ago. This is the second time this has happened. FML

Today, I got notice that I didn't get the new position I applied for at work. After two interviews, pay negotiation and paperwork, as well as years of giving this place all my time, I found out my boss gave it to his friend's daughter, who has no experience or credentials needed for the position. FML

Today, after spending 8 months and $11,000 on school, I was denied a job in my chosen career field. They told me they decided to go with someone with more experience. So who got the job? One of my classmates. This is her first job. EVER. FML

Today, I was once again passed over for a promotion. I'm now the assistant to a kid who has failed to meet almost every single responsibility he's been given before. It's my job to make sure he's successful, and if he isn't, I'll lose my job. FML

Today, I was told I've secured the job I applied for at my local hospital. Being just 19, this is a great opportunity, and I told my parents. They angrily asked if I'd applied just to get access to drugs, then demanded to know how I'd managed to pass the drug test. Thanks for the confidence. FML

I worked in mcdonalds for a few years. Trust me, you don't want that promotion. Promotions in fast food resteraunts are what lead people to be stuck their for life. And, they truly are one of the worst places in the world to work. My mansger had a phd in chemistry, but had still been there for 20 years before i started working with her.

I know plenty of people who like to say that McDonald's management training is some of the best in the world but I haven't seen a McDonald's manager be able to transfer those skills to an industry outside of fast food. @OP: I suggest you get yourself into a quality restaurant or hotel sooner rather than later. If you want to demonstrate your capability to run an establishment then start getting involved with the best pronto.

actually from a business standpoint that makes sense..when you graduate you will leave for better opportunities...and then they will have to retrain another..she will prob be there for awhile and they know it..

something similar happened to me. I was passed over for a promotion. their reason i didn't have enough computer experience. I can build a computer from scratch and i have studied computer engineering.
