I hate this job

Today, I forced myself into work with severe laryngitis. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, except I work at candy and ice cream store at a major tourist destination. For seven hours I had to communicate with unsympathetic adults and screaming, bratty kids by miming and using a dry erase board. FML

YDI, because you knew were sick and probably contagious and went to work anyways. You know you have to communicate almost nonstop and that you're coming into contact with kids who could catch it from you, so why not just take a sick day?

Holy crap, old FML, but... I can get going into work when you're sick because sometimes it's harder to cover your shift and you'll get written up if you can't. But you had laryngitis and worked in a place that sells FOOD and you went to work? That's just heartless.

First of all, you went to work that sick? Where you serve food? Are you nuts?! If I went to work sick, even with a cold, I'd be sent home and I just work retail. I'm sorry that you were sick OP, but never go to work sick, even more so if you can't even talk. Take the time to get better and talk to your manager. They may give you another shift to make up for it.

I had that problem, working at Whataburger, I have a tendency to get bronchitis, I ended up being sent home for weeks until it was manageable

I feel your pain OP,except I just lost my voice for a day. My brother is really annoying and it was really hard not to scream at him without damaging my throat.
