I hate this job

Today, I forced myself into work with severe laryngitis. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, except I work at candy and ice cream store at a major tourist destination. For seven hours I had to communicate with unsympathetic adults and screaming, bratty kids by miming and using a dry erase board. FML

Should stayed in bed, no-one gives a shit that you forced yourself to work...

I cannot tell you how many times I see stupid people like you come into my work every day... I work at an adult hospital as a Nurse Practitioner. I see people with all severities of laryngitis (and various other heath issues) come into the hospital and they forced themselves to work and since they didn't stay home... it got worse and they turned to more medical help when it could have more than easily been avoided. Why can't people stop being insane thinking they can work when they simply can't! When you're sick - your sick, they can survive without you until you're well. The type of work you do should have rang a bell if it requires communication. YDI for forcing yourself to work. I have had severe laryngitis before and it is not worth going into work, its a waste of your time and your co-workers time having to attempt to get around it somehow nicely.

Aye, that was your fault. Shouldnt have went it.

Does it hurt to take a day off from work? Hope you feel better soon.

You know you could have passed yourself as a mute and played that off, right? Next time, take a pickle jar to work and tape a sign to it that reads "Saving for laryngeal implant.. please help."

You cant expect sympathy if the only reason your at work is because you went in! Next time call in sick instead of expecting people to feel bad for you.

So when DO you plan to use those sick days?
