I hate this job

Today, I forced myself into work with severe laryngitis. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, except I work at candy and ice cream store at a major tourist destination. For seven hours I had to communicate with unsympathetic adults and screaming, bratty kids by miming and using a dry erase board. FML

Today, I woke up with laryngitis. I just got hired as a waitress. Tomorrow is opening day, the restaurant plays loud music and I can't speak any louder than a whisper. FML

Today, I learned that I have a sinus infection, ear infection and bronchitis so bad it was on the verge of pneumonia. My work won't let me call in sick. I work with kids. Lovely. FML

Today, I woke up with a sore throat and a stuffy nose. As my boss is an asshat who hates allowing sick leave, I thought I could power through it, but halfway through my workday I sneezed so hard that I threw my back out. I had to go home early and now I can't move without pain. FML

Today, I got a migraine. I work in an arcade with lots of bright lights, loud noises and screaming children. I was stuck in there for 7 hours. FML

Today, my boss forced me to come into work despite having a bad cold. While waiting a table, I violently sneezed and sprayed a child's face with snot. His dad got so pissed that my boss had to pretend to fire me just to calm him down. FML

Today, during a series of violent sneezes due to a cold, I bit my tongue. My tongue is now so swollen I cannot close my mouth and am drooling profusely. I have to get ready to go to my job as a cashier. FML

Today, I asked my boss for a couple of days off to recover from a nasty ear infection which has left me hard of hearing. However, he didn't understand why that would affect my job and refused. I work in a telephone call centre. FML

A bit off topic, but am I the only one who hates the "normally Ithis wouldn't be" phrasing? It doesn't make any sense. "Today, I had to pay $100,000 for a burger. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I don't have infinite money. " That makes about as much sense to me as it does in FMLs. OP, FYL. Maybe you shouldn't have gone?

Maybe she's the sole income provider in her house. She might be putting herself through school, supporting children, and a disabled husband. You never know. Either way, she couldn't afford a day off and only those who can would ever say that. Or you never worked a day in your life.

And if she were sick with something more dangerous with laryngitis? That kind of reasoning doesn't negate the fact that she should not be at work sick complaining about how people don't care about her plight when she clearly is not concerned with getting others sick.

#100 If you couldn't afford a sick day would you go into work with shingles or Parvovirus knowing you were working with a pregnant person? I seriously doubt you would.. and if you would you're a dick. You can't risk the health of others when you are contagious, you just can't..
