You know that it’s possible that your son has his own motivations for what he’s saying. If babysitter has smoked weed in your home, you will smell it or some dreadful smelling cover-up scent or incense… Check it out, neither immediately fully believe your son if there’s no evidence nor disbelieve him. It’s up to you to find out what’s actually going on if it’s your baby… Note that I am assuming that OP’s son was babysat along with the baby. If the baby is OP’s son’s baby then he is responsible (along with the mother) for dealing with the babysitter.
"my baby" may be 12 years old. so I read it as a single child. Mom did say the baby sitter does smell. so, we are in agreement on the being skeptical for sure. I just think it is an only child. Mom needs heck of a lot more situational awareness at minimum.

If you knew she was doing all this, you should have fired her anyway. I hope that was your intention, so this way she wasn't blindsided.
