OP, that sucks and there is no getting around that. It’s understandable and decent that you let prospective BF know the situation. And to be honest, if the shoe was on the other foot (BF had a lot of debts) many women would run too and for good reasons… Money issues are often a make or break issue with couples. It seems understandable how you got into this situation, and you have my sympathy. Hopefully you will find someone else…
If you aren't using them already then Google Stepchange. They're THE uk debt advice and advocacy service. Most people hear I have X amount of debt and run. If you admit it's there then lay out how you have organised it, the expected end date and that it's no one else's concern but yours *before* saying exactly how much then you present yourself as an organised, independent, self managing person who has no interest or need of anyone else's money. It'll be a slog but you will find someone who has either dug themselves out of this hole and understands or someone who recognises and appreciates a woman who has it together. Might I also suggest bereavement counselling? It really does help 🫂
