Today, my husband and I were having sex in the shower while our 5-year old was sleeping. Apparently, she wasn't sleeping and she asked me what those loud noises were. I told her I was singing. Now I can't get her to stop "singing" in the shower. FML

Ugh. I don't get why you can't just hold in your moan. Atleast take it out with breathing.. ******* hate when my mom screams for ages. Yeah, I'm a sick little bastard, I know.

Just make sure she doesn't shower when you're having company over!!

#159, I hate when people think that way. You were a kid once also.

I agree with you Contradiction.

Her parenting failed, as her kid is now "singing" in the shower.... because she lied. & if she thought she was doing the right thing, I'm sure she wouldn't be posting an FML about it. ha.

To all the people here who have said this woman is a bad parent, I disagree. The child is too young to know about these kinds of things I think. Sure, she'll eventually know, but that doesn't mean she needs to know now. You can parent your child however you want, let this woman parent her child the way she wants to.

Really? You would say that to a five year old? This is a five year old we're talking about; not a teenager, not a ten year old, and not someone puberty age. No disrespect but why the heck does a five year old need to know about sex? There's plenty of time to fill her in so that she, as you claim will "be less curious about it when they're teenagers, because it won't be a huge deal."

I find it's easier to just tell them that Mommy and Daddy were having sex. If they learn about sex earlier, they'll be less curious about it when they're teenagers, because it won't be a huge deal. Just a thought.

YDI for not involving your daughter in your shower sex.

Well at least you guys are still doing it. ;)

YDI for making up a piss-poor lie. This is where the problem starts; parents lying to their kids about sex and then wondering why their 14 year-old got knocked up thinking if she peed afterwards, she wouldn't get pregnant. All of the myths and lies surrounded sex probably come from stupid answers from parents and then kids passing it around to eachother. Now, I am not saying you need to tell a 5 year-old what sex is, but at least make your response believable. Why not just say, "mommy and daddy were having adult time" and leave it at that? It's not a lie, but it's also not going into detail.

This is what happens when you lie. Honesty is the best policy, I wouldn't give too many details at five years old though. Totally agree with #138

ydi for lying to your daughter

Waiting until puberty?! I knew a woman who wasn't told until she started bleeding. Good job, parents: Making it easier for yourselves, and leaving your kids alone. Great thing if they believe some bs other kids tell them. That woman - then girl - thought she was dying.

I'll join the arguments here and give my two cents: The girl should have learned about sex that day. Treating sex as a taboo subject doesn't produce better children, because then when they first hear about it, it will be mysterious and a 'sign of maturity,' which will make them want to learn more, and will encourage them to believe anything they hear about the topic. The more time they have to think about it before it becomes a real force in their lives, the better, if you ask me.
