Ins and outs

By Anonymous - 01/11/2009 21:08 - United States

Today, I finally got my paycheck from working at my minimum wage job for the last three months. I was delighted when I saw it was worth $846. On my way to cash it, I destroyed my car's suspension. It's going to cost almost $800 to fix. FML

It happens. At least you could afford it. My alternator just blew up, luckily I can do alot of that stuff by myself so I'm only dropping about a hundred on it, but I've also replaced my starter, radiator, one of the transmission coolant lines (seized up and snapped in half) in the last month, as well as having had a significant amount of my car entirely rewired due to some idiot installing several aftermarket alarms. I make more than minimum wage (I make around 20 an hour, but only work a few hours a day) though so this is breaking the bank for me. The moral of the story is that yours isn't a FML, as much as it is a "This sucks, but MLI still A." Also, how did you manage to break your suspension driving to the bank? I'm assuming that it had been an issue for a while and you either didn't notice or put it off, shit happens though. It's amazing what preventative maintenance can do if you pay enough attention to catch things like that, but some stuff always slips by. But I digress.

FYL Minimum wage here is $9.50 XD Maybe you should move to Ontario??????

What's wrong with Canadian dollars? C$9.50 is about US$8.84, so you're still making more.

3 months to get your first check?! what job are you doing?

There's a lot of people who don't own a car ... like me.

well what the heck did you do that for then?

how the hell do you work three months before getting a paycheck? is that even legal to do?

That sucks. On the other hand, does America generally just make you cash your paychecks? In Australia we get the money automatically transferred to our bank accounts - lots of problems avoided that way!

Next time don't destroy your suspension. Most normal people drive their cars for years without ever "destroying their suspension". Just be more normal and life won't be so difficult.
