Insensitive

Today, I got written up by HR after my new coworker told them I had an ignorant, offensive caricature of Native American people decorating my desk. It was a framed photograph of an actual Native American tribe that belonged to my history buff grandfather. FML

Could you go to a higher up and show them the picture? This seems like an easy fix.

Your coworker sounds like a little dbag. You also seem...odd. History is cool, but why would you have a framed picture of a group of friends and family you aren't even a part of? Heirlooms are for home, not for work.

You should file a grievance about the write up and make a complaint about your co-workers insensitive uninformed and racist attitude towards natives.

I read so many posts like this and I always wonder the same thing..."Do these people not have a set of balls to actually say something/defend themselves so they don't get screwed over." And sadly it seems that no, the people who post stuff like this have no balls at all. Don't let ignorant people walk all over you!

It doesn't really say they didn't try to defend themselves. They got written up, sometimes trying to defend yourselves won't matter.

That coworker sounds uncontrollably stupid if you ask me.

How do you confuse a photograph with a caricature?

Saw the location and now I'm not surprised

"Actual native" and "caricature" aren't actually mutually exclusive seen as a lot of the photographs we have of Natives were taken by photographers who dressed them to look the way white people considered "authentic" rather than in a way that's actually in keeping with their culture.
