Today, I got written up by HR after my new coworker told them I had an ignorant, offensive caricature of Native American people decorating my desk. It was a framed photograph of an actual Native American tribe that belonged to my history buff grandfather. FML

Honestly, that is a very weird office decoration. A picture with your grandfather in it makes sense. But a random picture of strangers that your grandfather happened to have? That's weird.

it depends on exactly what the picture was and when it was taken Native Americans have been stigmatized and characterized 130 years many photos taken between 1870 and 1930 could be characterized as offensive
